Slide 13 NSDS and Nigerian Vision 20:2020  With the approval of the NSDS by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National Economic Council, the Strategy became a working document for improving on the statistical delivery in Nigeria  In effect, as an important ingredient for guiding the design and implementation of Government Policy, the NSDS in Nigeria was considered as one of those instruments to be embedded into the Vision 20:2020.  As you may be aware, Vision 20:2020 is the current Nigerian long term Development Plan that intends to launch the Country onto the path of sustained social and economic growth and development by the year 2020.

Slide 14 NSDS and Nigerian Vision 20:2020  The goal and objective of the plan is to place Nigeria among the top 20 economies in the world  To achieve this aspiration, therefore, the Government of Nigeria considered it pertinent to mainstream the NSDS into Its current National Development Plan – Vision 20:2020

Slide 15 Conclusion  It is pertinent to note that the implementation of Nigerian Vision 20:2020 will require the use of robust and reliable statistics  Effective implementation of Nigerian Vision 20:2020 and NSDS will to a large extent help to improve the quantum and quality of statistics needed for:  Planning  Policy formulation  Monitoring and evaluation of programmes and project  NSDS engenders development of an integrated, well coordinated and coherent NSS which will ensure unified data production processes in Nigeria C.
