My first homework assignment was to write an essay with the “My identity. ” The topic seemed vague so I asked the teacher what to write about. He said, “Well, I want you to explain who you are - where you are from, what you do, your hobbies. Most importantly, tell me your feelings about what ’ s important to you. What ’ s experiences in your life have affected you ? ” Following my teacher ’ s advice, I chose to write about when I started university in Japan. I felt lost and shy, but I decided that I wanted to be more popular than when I was in high school. So I tried to talk to people and I join the photography club.
