2 THREE THINGS MUST BE PRESENT TO START A FIRE 1 – Oxygen : present in the air 2 – Fuel : any material that will burn 3 – Heat : Sparks, matches, flames IF ANY ONE OF THESE IS MISSING, THERE CANNOT BE A FIRE!

3 FIRE EMERGENCY PLANS In case of fire, the main rule is to REMAIN CALM! You should NEVER use an elevator during a fire. The acronym RACE is used to remember the important steps: R escue anyone in immediate danger. A ctivate the alarm. Give the location and type of fire. C ontain the fire. Close doors and windows. E xtinguish the fire or E vacuate the area.

4 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS There are four classifications, according to the kind of fire they extinguish. EXTINGUISH MEANS TO PUT OUT. CLASS A: The fuel source is paper, cloth, plastic, or wood. CLASS B: The fuel source is flammable liquid, such as gasoline, oil, paint, grease, and cooking fat fires. CLASS C: Electrical fires, such as fuse boxes, wiring, appliances. The electricity should be turned off before using an extinguisher on an electrical fire. CLASS D: Burning metals.
