9 The “HOW TOs” First method: Personal visits Appoint a leader for the analysis Prepare a standard set of relevant questions Request an appointment with the CEO/executive director, manager, etc., at their location Explain the purpose of the visit

10 The “HOW TOs” Visit in teams of two Record responses to the questions Prepare a summary of all responses Identify the emerging themes Create a short list of potential projects to present to your club

11 The “HOW TOs” Second method: Round table meeting Appoint a leader for the analysis Develop a brainstorming agenda to identify service project ideas Invite community CEOs/executive directors, managers, etc., to a round table meeting Explain the purpose of the meeting

12 The “HOW TOs” Appoint a meeting facilitator Appoint a recorder Summarize the responses Identify the emerging themes Create a short list of potential projects to present to your club

13 Club analysis of projects Present the short list of potential projects to your club’s membership Present a comparison chart to demonstrate project costs, impacts, time commitments, outcomes, visibility and the length of each potential project Use the Analyzing your impact tool

14 Analyzing your impact Ask questions for each project: Can we make a significant impact improving the lives of others? Do we have enough members for the time needed? Do we need to do more fundraising to support the project?

15 Analyzing your impact Would the project increase our profile in the community? Does the effort match the outcome? Does the project fit with our club’s strategic plan?

16 Analyzing your impact The most important question: Which project is of interest to a majority of members?

17 Tips BE PREPARED: Do the required prep work for the Community Analysis approach you choose to use Be enthusiastic Invite your community contacts to your Kiwanis meetings Share your love for your club
