9. Reading: We are enjoying reading Because of Winn Dixie. We hate to stop each day. Although we are reading in class, I want to encourage students to read the book at home too! Ask your child about the story. Chapters 6-10, Quiz on Friday. Please make sure your child is returning with their book to class each day. It is used for reading activities. A Note about Homework: Please ensure your child is completing all homework (spelling, signed reading log and math practice facts recorded in agenda). This daily practice reinforces classroom work. Homework is sent home on Monday and returned on Friday. Any students not completing homework will use recess or FLEX time to complete missing work. Thanks for your help! Math: We will wrap up our study of rounding numbers. We have gotten so good, we are moving to the thousands place! Next, we will use our understanding of place value to add 3- digit numbers. Quiz on rounding Friday. Review math journal and lesson 8 in math book. Science: We are studying features of plants and animals that help them survive. We are creating a science journal of vocabulary and science labs. Quiz on Wednesday. Review vocabulary in journal and study guide that will come home Tuesday. Planning for the Week: Students are asked to send in pictures, stickers, cutouts, etc. to decorate their writing notebooks. Items should be sent in by Friday of this week.
