4 Where do we come from?!?! Ireland´s history is quite complicated. Because it is a small country it has been invaded many times. There has been many wars......

10 Blarney Castle Blarney Castle is in county Cork. It is a very old castle set in beautiful gardens. It is most famous because of the “Blarney Stone” they say that kissing the stone gives you good luck.

11 Home sweet home The village where I live is called ´Hillsborough´; ´borough is an old word meaning town and Arthur Hill is the name of the man who founded the village, therefore the name means ´the town of Hill´. The Courthouse.

12 home sweet home cont........ Hillsborough is a very small village close to the capital city, Belfast. It has around 5000 inhabitants. The buildings are very old and beautiful and it is surrounded by pretty green landscapes.

13 Artists Ireland has a lot of art culture including poets, writers, musicians, dancers and actors. Some of the most well known are……. Charlotte Bronte the classical writer. The actor Colin Farrell who starred in the hit movie S.W.A.T.

14 Artists continued......... Also the music groups U2 and The Corrs are from Ireland.

15 Food and Drink Yes it is true most typical Irish foods include potatoes!!!!! Irish stew- beef with onions carrots and potatoes. ‘Champ’- mashed potatoes with spring onions. Potato bread – a type of bread made with potatoes.

16 Food and Drink The most famous Irish drink is of course……. Guinness And also Irish whisky a very famous Whisky producer in Ireland is Bushmills. But we don’t drink alcohol all the time!!!!!!!!

17 Did you know?.......... The most famous ship in the world ‘The Titanic’ was built in Belfast ship yard. However……..the design was changed slightly to save money, this is what caused it to sink.
