11 Cochlear implant A complex device for certain types of hearing loss. External part sits behind the ear, internal part is surgically implanted under the skin. An implant doesn’t restore hearing, but provides useful representation of sounds in environment.

12 Taking care of a hearing aid Out for a night, in in the morning Turn them on and check if they work before placing (hold between palms) Clean with dry cloth only, never with alcohol. Check tubing for clogging with wax. Remove before showering, cover if using hair spray. Swing a battery compartment out for a night Keep hearing aid in a safe place for a night time a hearing aid box with a patient’s name on it.
