5 Professional Growth Plan Goals #1 – Create classroom guidance curriculum for grades 9-12, that includes a High School and Beyond Plan. #2 – Advocate for my position as a School Counselor using the ASCA model as a foundation

6 R.I.P. “CAPS” Required class for grades 9-12.25 credit earned each year Met once a week for 30 minutes Topics covered: career exploration, academic advising, service learning, portfolio management Required components: 4 hours of community service each year, Junior year Job Shadow, Senior Project Discontinued in 2011

7 Hello STAT! 4 days a week, 30 minutes a day.25 credit earned each year Yellow Card: 71% or higher – Incentives: Open Gym, Open Field, Talk Lounge, Movie & Popcorn Red Card: 70% or lower – Interventions: Must go to the teacher of the class with the low grade(s) – Help with homework, relearning concepts, retaking tests No longer required: community service hours, career guidance lessons, job shadow

8 When CAPS was eliminated, so was the time to teach important lessons. Students were increasingly unknowledgeable about how to read a transcript, what the difference between the SAT & ACT are, what their post high-school options are, and what graduation requirements are, among many other things.
