7 PRACTICE TIMES/COACHES FOR MAY 5:15-6:15 pm 8 and under Coach Brenda 5:15-6:45 pm Ages 11-18 Coach Kevin w/11-14 Coach Amy w/15-18 5:45-7:15 pm Ages 9-10 Coach Brenda and remaining coaches after we're done with the other practices Times may be adjusted if needed as we evaluate the number of swimmers in each group. We will send an email to all families if that occurs

11 Volunteer Interest Form Rate preferences 1-3 Make sure to include email address and cell number for text messages. Many jobs you can sign up for. Some positions only we will be able to sign up.

12 Volunteering Responsibilities Volunteering benefits our team, but especially your child. Volunteering is very important for all families.

13 How much time should I volunteer? 20 Hours required Minimum of 18 hours during regular season 2 hours at championships

14 Opportunities to Serve

15 Set Up/Take Down Arriving early to help set up items needed for the meet including tents, timing system, tables and needed supplies. Due to our pool situation this year, we only have one meet that we will need to do a big set up on June 18 th Double Hours

16 Head Age Group Parent: Erin Seymour Age group parents need to check in with Erin at each meet. She will give you your supplies. She will also help to train new age group parents.

17 Age Group Parent Commitment for majority of swim meets: 1-3 parents per age group Must keep swimmer information updated with heat/lane assignments Write events on swimmer’s arms Gather and lead swimmers to block area at appropriate time Automatically fulfills all volunteer hours. This position does not change and requires a commitment for multiple meets.

18 Assistant Announcer Announcer: Joe Rigdon Uses PA system to keep spectators updated on events Makes announcements Plays music to keep fun and upbeat atmosphere We are looking for someone who would be willing to train in this position to be relief for Joe/fill in if needed.

19 Assistant Head Timer Head Timer: Mark Darr Ensures all Marlin timers report for shifts. Leads timer meeting for both team’s timer volunteers. Assists the Meet Referee, Starter and Computer Operator with testing the timing system. We are looking for someone who has timed in prior years to train and fill in for this position if needed.

20 Timers Operate stopwatch/plunger to time races. 3 timers in each lane, 1-2 people from each team per lane. One timer per lane manually records the times. Great first time Marlin job! Fun! Easy! Snacks! Shade! Chairs! 8-11am or 11-2pm

21 Lane Runner Home meet position Collects written time sheets from timers during meet and brings them to the computer operator.

22 Assistant Starter Starter: Troy Konarski Conducts the start of each race during the meet. Only during home meets. We are looking for someone who has experience with the swim team to train for this position as we will need someone to be the Starter at the June 18 th Meet.

23 Hospitality Team 2-3 people working together to plan, shop and prepare snacks within a budget.

24 Hospitality New Position Pass out food and drinks to workers during the meet: June 11 & June 18 Plan/Shop/Prep to serve snacks and drinks for all volunteers at poolside. Coaches, Timers, Stroke and Turn, Announcer, Computer Team +/- 40 people

25 Ribbons Put labels on ribbons and sort into swimmer folders. No experience necessary!

26 Stroke and Turn Judges swimmers start’s, strokes and turns to ensure rules are followed for various strokes. We need a minimum of 12 volunteers for this per meet. Judge must signal when they see a disqualification and mark on proper sheet. Shifts will be every hour as this job is standing poolside.

27 Stroke and Turn Mandatory Training session on May 14 th at the Auburn Pool at 10am (will get hours for going). There will be extra training available poolside during the Blue and Gold meet but we require attending the May 14 th meeting in Auburn. If you are interested, a car pool will be available. Very important to have several people trained for this job. DOUBLE HOURS

28 Snack Bar This is for home meets only. Help to sell food and snack items at the snack bar. Shifts: 7-11 am and 11-2pm

29 Grill Specialist Help set up, cook/grill food needed for breakfast and lunch. 6:30-10:30am Breakfast 10:30-2pmLunch Double Hours

30 Team Wear Sales Available at home meets and some practices. Help set up and sell spirit wear. Shift: 7-11am

31 Floaters New position Be willing to step in where needed 8-11am and 11-2pm

32 Signing up to Volunteer Go to the team website: www.cordovabluemarlins.com www.cordovabluemarlins.com Click on Event tab at the top. Choose the Meet you want to sign up for Scroll down to the job you want. Select your time slot. Click sign up at the bottom of the page.

33 Signing Your Child Up for a Meet Go to team website: www.cordovabluemarlins.comwww.cordovabluemarlins.com Click on Event tab at the top Choose the meet you want to sign up for Click Accept/Decline button A list of your children will show up Choose each child individually and choose yes or no for attendance

34 When you register…... I t is very important that you include both your email and cell phone number so that we can send you reminders for positions you have signed up to participate.

35 Tracking Hours! After the meet, we will confirm that you have worked your entire time slot and give you credit for the hours. Please spread out your hours into several meets. Be considerate in letting others have slots too. Please do not sign up for more than 2-3 shifts per meet, unless we are requesting extra volunteers. Please select your top 3 choices by preferences on your Volunteer Request Form

36 Deadlines If you have not signed up by the Monday before the swim meet and you have a swimmer signed up for the meet, we will be assigning you to a position. If you want to choose your position, please sign up yourself. May sign up for all meets except champs.

42 Things to Bring to a Swim Meet 1. Bring some cash: Concessions are available at most meets. 2. Folding Chairs, Sun Screen, & Shade: EZ-Up, Tent, Hats, etc. 3. Swimmers need to stay hydrated and fed during meets. Pack protein and high- quality carbs, not junk- those bodies are working hard. Water bottles are necessary. 4. Swim wear: Swim suit, goggles, swim cap, sandals, towel, blankets, warm clothes 5. Things to do, play with, or read!
