4 The Teachers and the Students 22 FY1s 3 sets of 10 medical students from The University of Southampton (Final Year). 1 set of 10 medical students from The University of Southampton (Third Year). Perfect opportunity to create a structured, curriculum- spanning teaching programme.

5 Aims of the Programme A curriculum–spanning programme The Triumvirate:-Written Exams -OSCE thinking -Simulative training -End-Of-Rotation OSCE Peer Review

6 Methods 2 days a week Starting with core topic’s teaching OSCE mid-week Fortnightly simulation training

7 Results & Feedback For the students:-Gets them back into clinical medicine. -Excellent feedback for the programme.

8 For the FY1 Peer reviewing by Medical/Surgical Registrars. Advice regarding teaching methods. Formation of quizzes. Clinical correlation with actual cases seen on wards.

9 Future Plans Integrating word based teaching Getting permission to use sim-man Evolving end-of-rotation OSCE

10 Learning Points Creating a unique, peer reviewed teaching programme in a district General Hospital. Combining essentials needed to pass and ward-based experience to prepare medical students. Giving new FY1’s the chance to develop teaching skills to a closely observed environment.
