405C Utilizes Corner Tap Design
Pressure measured at the corner between the orifice plate and pipe wall 405 Corner Taps Common for all pipe sizes in Europe, including less than 50mm (2”) Standard design for integral orifices Allows standard transmitter mounting with 25mm (1”) wafer body Taps located 25 mm (1’) from surface of plate Flanged Taps Provides standard 54mm (2 1/8”) centers connection which is similar to transmitter connection Not available for pipe sizes less than 50mm (2”) Predominate in the US for pipes larger than 50mm (2”) The model 405P design is in coordination with ASME MFC-3M-1989/ISO 5167 corner tap orifice plate. Performance is Unaffected by Tap Location. Performance (discharge coefficient uncertainty) for corner taps is same as flange taps.

405C Corner Tap Design Resists Clogging
Recirculating Fluid Zone Vena Contracta Highest Fluid Velocity Particles deflected away from taps Another advantage of using the corner tap design, is that recirculating fluid zones are created at the pressure tap location. These fluid zones deflect entrained particles away from the taps, reducing the 405P's sensitivity to clogging.
