See, Believe and Become “Imagination is everything. It is the preview to life’s coming attractions.” ‒ Albert Einstein Watching birds fly in the sky, the Wright brothers believed / that someday they would fly, too. 1 분사구문 지각동사목적격 보어 ( 원형부정사 )

They “visualized” themselves in a device for flying, and eventually, after trying many different ideas, they built the first airplane and flew. Some of the greatest leaders and inventors / in history / visualized great things / before they actually saw them become a reality. That is the power of visualization, the act of creating vivid pictures / in your mind / of what you want / in order to make it happen. 2 주어 동사 지각동사 목적격 보어 ( 원형부정사 ) = 동격

When you imagine your goals as though they’ve already been completed, the feeling of success and the vivid images send powerful messages to your brain. The messages make your brain believe [that you are worthy of success] and [that you are ready to be successful]. The more you visualize yourself achieving your goals, the more your mind will search for ways to make it happen. 3 마치 ··· 인 것처럼 have/has + been + p.p.: 현재완료 수동태 사역동사 목적격 보어 ( 원형부정사 ) be worthy of: ··· 할 가치가 있다 you visualize yourself achieving your goals, your mind will search for ways to make it happen. the + 비교급 ···, the + 비교급 ~

Clearly Visualize / What You Want When you visualize a goal, try to imagine as many details as possible. Be specific: include sounds, smells and emotions. You can create a vision board (containing images of places (you want to go), people (you want to meet), things (you’d like to have) and quotes (that inspire you)). A vision board can be an extremely powerful tool. 4 what 명사절 (··· 하는 것 ) as many ··· as possible: 가능한 한 많은 ···

When NASA staff members were working on putting a man on the moon, / they covered the entire wall / at their research center / with a large picture of the moon. The goal was clear to everyone. The more they looked at the image, the more motivated they were to get to the moon as soon as possible. No wonder NASA reached its goal two years ahead of schedule! 5 the + 비교급 ···, the + 비교급 ~ ··· 하는 것도 당연하다 It’s that

Nari, 16 I always wanted to be an opera singer, but I needed some motivation (to make it happen). So I put up a board / in my room / with quotes and pictures (that inspired me). It constantly reminded me of the exciting future [I could have] if I stuck to my goal. I practiced hard every day, and before I knew it, I was singing in a student choir at the Sydney Opera House! 6 to 부정사의 형용사적 용법 that remind A of B: A 에게 B 를 상기시키다

“Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail.” ‒ Charles F. Kettering Act As If You Already Achieved Your Dream If you want to maximize your chances of success, you must act as if you were already successful. This does not mean [acting fake] or [showing off]. It means [believing in yourself] and [thinking and feeling like you have already achieved your goal]. 7 as if + 가정법 : 마치 ··· 인 것처럼 mean + v-ing: ··· 을 의미하다

Think clearly about [who you want to be], [what you want to do], and [what you want to have in the future]. Then, act as if you were this future self. Here is one thing (you can easily do / in your daily life / to practice this): Throw a party for your friends and tell them to come as the person (they want to be in 10 years). What are their jobs? What have they achieved? 8 that to 부정사의 부사적 용법

Think about [who you want to be] and stay in character throughout the party. The more you commit to playing your role, the more vivid your experience will be. The positive emotions (you’ll feel during the evening) should improve your self- esteem and the way (you view yourself). 9 The + 비교급 ···, the + 비교급 ~. that

Jamie, 18 When my friend decided to hold a “Come As You Will Be” party, I wasn’t sure / who I wanted to be. But the party’s idea got me thinking. It reminded me of a TV show about lawyers (that I like). So, I attended the party playing the role of a lawyer. After the party, I slowly developed more confidence and self-esteem. Today, I have chosen my university major and my future job. 10 to 부정사를 목적어로 취하는 동사 get + 목적어 + v-ing: ··· 가 ~ 한 상태가 되게 하다 현재완료 ( 결과 ) 분사구문 (··· 하면서 ) be sure: 확신하다

Of course, one party alone is not going to be enough to decide your entire future. You should keep in mind the dream (you want to achieve) and constantly imagine yourself realizing it in as much detail as possible. Combined with lots of practice and hard work, this will lead you to success. Always remember: Visualization is an easy, powerful way (to help you realize your goals)! 11 ··· 하기에 충분한 동명사를 목적격 보어로 취하는 동사 분사구문 to 부정사의 형용사적 용법
