2 Key focal areas for 2012 Continue ongoing efforts for APFP (co-funded by SEApeat) - Integrated Management of Peatlands outcome 1,2,3,4 -Regional Fire Prediction and early warning system – stakeholder engagement outcome 2 -BMP in Peatlands (targeting at community/private sector) outcome 3 & 4 -Communication/Visibility of the project outcome 1, 5 -Project coordination and management with countries outcome 5

Regional Workshop on Fire Prediction and Warning System (2.1.1) 20-21 Mac – Malaysia Aug – Indonesia (subject to the outcome of the first working group meeting) 20-21 Mac Technical workshop and working group meeting for regional collaboration. All ASEAN countries and specialized organization. Photography Competition - “People and Peatlands” (1.2.3) Peatlands of Southeast Asia Mac - June Online submission. Result to be announced in Oct in conjunction with World Habitat Day. TWG meetingBruneiApril To be confirmed by ASEC Update on FDRS and APFP implementation Workshop of Best Management Practices of Forest Plantation (4.1.2) Indonesia25-26 April Development of BMP guideline for forest plantation (Compilation of case studies – Acacia, Jelutung, Melalueca). Target 15-20 pax

Back to back with 6 th PMM 6 th Project Management Meeting Malaysia 11-12 July By rotation Workshop on Resource mobilization/incentive options – carbon financing (1.3.1 & 2.3.3) Indonesia 19 -21 th Sept Targeting on government agency, research institution, finance/funding agencies and private sector. Ca. 50 pax,

Suggest back to back with 4 th PSC meeting Project Supervision Mission by IFAD Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam and Philippines ? 2 person from IFAD ( 1 technical expert and 1 financial officer) Project Pilot Sites. 7 Communication/Visibility (1.2.3) Newspaper/TV/Magazines/Radio station Media Visit – 18 Feb 2012 (Raja Musa Forest Reserve) History Channel – March (Haze Hell Over Asia) Proposed at least 10 feature articles on peat/project related activities (2 articles per country and 2 articles from regional) – International Peat Magazines, Going place, Asian Geographic, 360 etc. Radio – initiate contact for fire risk announcement Online & Social Media ASEANpeat website, Facebook group, GEC website, IFAD-Asia website, Event Photography contest (Peatland s and People) – Launched in March International Conference International Peat Conference/Regional seminar
