3 TELUS Confidential3 Wireless Trends Driven by the proliferation of smartphones - government, business and consumers are utilizing wireless data at unprecedented levels In some areas, data traffic has increased by 5 per cent per week People have come to expect – as a basic utility requirement – high quality wireless coverage and data speeds within their communities Without the addition of wireless sites, service will deteriorate E-reader/ tablet Smartphone Laptop = X 35* = = X 121* X 488* *Monthly Basic Mobile Phone Data Traffic Source: Cisco Visual Networking Index Mobile, 2012 Canadians accessing the internet on mobile devices jumped from 35% in 2010 to 59% in 2012 Nearly 70% of all 9-1-1 calls come from mobile phones

6 TELUS Confidential6 Summary of Consultation Details Consultation with the District commenced August 2014 Notification were provided to community members within 100 m of the site (52 in total) In total, 4 community members provided comments/expressed concerns Nature of concern - health/safety and visual impact of the pole Request for Concurrence

7 TELUS Confidential7 Addressing Concerns Raised Health and Safety – Industry Canada requires that all antenna installations comply with Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 Guidelines The consensus among Canadian health organizations and the scientific community is that wireless antennas are safe. Design, Location and Visibility - Relative to other “cell towers” the proposed pole is much lower and is similar existing above ground infrastructure (signage/utility poles/light standards) Wireless antenna installation are commonly located in Commercial areas TELUS has modified the original design to reduce its overall visibility by shrouding the antennas from view +100 % 0.1 %
