Overall NSW Health 2011 YourSay Survey Results YourSay – a brief recap Objectives To establish a measurement tool that allows a clear understanding of employee engagement and workplace culture throughout NSW Health. Offer staff the opportunity to give their views about issues which have an important influence on their engagement with work. To use the information to develop state wide and local action plans to inform continuous improvement and improve workplace culture. To measure the improvements organisations have made, by comparing results externally and over time. Methodology Planning preparation and communication Qualitative consultation Questionnaire design Data collection: online and paper Results into action Survey champion network (300+) Dedicated website 19 focus groups across the state 46 attitudinal, 2 open comment questions Cognitive testing Inclusive as possible: online, paper, six languages Written reports, presentations and 300+ highlights reports

Overall NSW Health 2011 YourSay Survey Results Actions to date Overall NSW Health, LHD and facility results have been made available to all NSW Health staff via the NSW Health internet site. Facility (Manager) reports and organisational reports have been provided to Executive teams when they received a presentation of their individual survey results in October. Improvement activity is underway with LHDs/SCH Network beginning the process of identifying key workplace themes to focus on, prioritising action areas and formulating improvement initiatives. In summary, LHD/SCH Network executive teams have been asked to develop local action plans by: –Cascading survey results to all staff in their organisation –Initiating action planning processes that facilitate feedback and consultation from staff to develop: action plans that focus on 3-5 key improvement areas. Communication strategies to ensure all staff are made aware of follow up activities.

Overall NSW Health 2011 YourSay Survey Results Facility Reports Facility reports have been published on the NSW Health Internet page for all facilities that had more than 10 responses to the survey (total of 229). Available under Reports and Surveys tab and listed in an organisation table. Summary reports are provided where there are less than 30 respondents. The Full reports contained detailed question responses by each of the survey demographics eg. job role, age, length of service etc. You can access all Facility Reports.Facility Reports

Overall NSW Health 2011 YourSay Survey Results Estimated response rates * Estimated response rate is based on Full Time Equivalent staff and does not include contractors, agency staff and volunteers. Hence the % response is not exact. The final estimated response rate has been weighted to account for part time and temporary staff. = 95% confidence interval, results within +/- 5 percentage points 31,493 staff completed the survey
