It connects to the computer via a serial or parallel port. Sometimes printers could also be part of the network; (use a NIC to interface with the network) Most of the printers nowadays use a parallel interface. The parallel cable usually has a DB 25 male connector on one end and a 36 pin Centronics connector on the other end.

This resolution means how many dots a printer could print per inch. The output image of a printer is most commonly put onto paper. The size that is used most of the time tends to be 8.5x11 or legal size 8.5x14 inches. Feeding a form (form feed) involves pulling a piece of paper into the printer and moving it back out of the printer. If it is only a single piece of paper that is moved through the printer this is known as sheet fed. If the pieces of paper are connected and move through the printer continuously this is known as continuous feed.
