Page 54 C-Map MAX Pro The GB40 Glass Bridge system comes with a complete pre-loaded C-MAP MAX Pro data base, with free access to the world background chart. Full local area details are unlocked by a USB Hardware Key which must be programmed for the individual local areas by an authorized Simrad dealer. Unlock codes can be obtained from C-MAP via telephone or e-mail. A more automatic route is in progress. The Chart Key is to be inserted/connected to the NavComputer. For multi- systems it must be connected to the master unit only. GB40 Chart System C-MAP MAX Pro

Page 55 First year A license for C-Map MAX Pro includes a one-year free update of the purchased areas. For updating, a unique code for the purchased areas must be loaded onto a USB stick from the GB40. The USB stick is then to be connected to a PC and uploaded from the C-MAP data base via the internet. Reconnecting the stick to the GB40 and activating the upload function, automatically updates the purchased areas with the latest data. Following years The present plan is to update like above, but go via a dealer as the update is no longer free. C-Map MAX Pro GB40 Chart System Chart updates

Page 56 Future software enhancements for both the NavComputer, Radar processor and Echosounder black boxes are easily installed by downloading the relevant software to a USB hard drive or flash drive, connecting this to the USB port on your GB40 NavComputer and then activating the automatic upgrade function. The Upgrade function is located in the Setup menu. GB40 System Upgrading Upgrades via the USB port

Page 57 After the electronics have been installed the GB40 system must be setup for control unit(s), various data sources and master slave relations.  Press the ON/OFF key on the GB40 which is to be the master unit. All OP30s are assigned to this GB40 during start up  Hold down the PWR and MENU keys for 3 seconds on the OP30 which is to operate the second GB40. The OP30 will then reset and ready to be assigned to the next GB40  Power on the second GB40 on the ON/OFF key. The free OP30 will automatically be assigned  Follow the onscreen instructions for selecting master unit  Activate automatic data source selection when prompted or via the setup menu  Check data to be present from available sensors; GPS antenna, temperature etc.  Press RADAR to check radar black box, if applicable  Press ECHO to check echosounder black box, if applicable  Check other connected sensors, camera, engine etc., if applicable  Power system up and down a couple of times GB40 Commissioning Pre-commissioning after installation

Page 58 Before the boat is handed over to the customer, please ensure the following actions are taken:  Check that purchased regional charts are installed, updated and operative  Check the GPS position update function  Check the 50 kHz and 200 kHz echosounder function, if applicable  Activate radar and let it run in standby for 30 minutes before 1 st TX. Not applicable for Broadband Radar  Check normal radar operation  Adjust heading offset and range (timing)  Check radar overlay and Mini-ARPA function  Check all interface functions, AIS, instrument, engine, cameras etc.  Power system up and down a couple of times GB40 Commissioning Final commissioning prior to customer takeover

Page 59 In the event of product failure within the first three months, we recommend replacing the defective product or item and returning it to ELC (manufacturer) for thorough inspection/replacement GB40 Service Service and repair

Page 60  Extremely flexible system concept  10”, 15” and 19” bonded sunlight viewable screens  Up to three screens can be connected directly to one NavComputer  Separate keypad offers multiple and flexible operation positions and ensures maximum active screen area for size of monitor  Advanced C-Map MAX Pro, updates via internet (1 year free)  IPX6 Water Resistant  Radar option, Broadband, 2-25 kW radome and open scanners  10 target MARPA  600/1000 W automatic transducer sensing echosounder module  Extensive range of system upgrade modules and extras  Easy network installation and setup – Ethernet and SimNet GB40 Glass Bridge Unique Sales Points

Page 61 Typical Customer Enquiries

Page 62  Can I have different images shown on the two displays connected to my GB40? – No, a GB40 will only generate one image which is distributed to all displays  Can I connect a 10” and a 15” display to my GB40? – No, both displays must have same size (resolution). But you can replace one display with a monitor, which is able to change resolution  Can I use a DI10 or DI15 as a monitor for a PC? – No, the displays require special power-on and control signals  Is it possible to connect a third party AIS receiver with NMEA0183 output? – No, the GB40 will receive AIS data via SimNet only GB40 Typical Customer Questions

Page 63  I am not able to zoom into the chart and/or some on-screen ’keys’ do not function – It is most likely that the Ethernet function is missing. What’s required is either the Ethernet loopback or a functioning Ethernet Linker or other network device, radar or sounder via crossover cable  The OP30 will not control the GB40 system – The OP30 may not be assigned correctly to the main unit. Hold down the POWER and MENU keys for 5-6 seconds to reset the unit and switch off the GB40 on the ON/OFF key. Disconnect USB keyboard and mouse/trackball if connected. Turn unit on again by the OP30 POWER key  I have no detailed charts available – The GB40 comes preloaded with a full chart data base. For full regional details you need to purchase a C-Map license from your local dealer. The license is stored on a hardware key which must be connected to the main unit GB40 Typical Customer Questions
