5 Congratulations but… 18 more school days! But high expectations for academics, behavior, and dress continue until May 18 th and beyond. Commencement (is NOT May 18 th ) Expectations for Prom, Last Day, Honors Assembly, Class Picture, Caps and Gowns, and Commencement must be strictly adhered to.

6 Prom May 7, 2016 Canterbury Village

7 Prom – May 7th Behavior expectations apply (no tobacco, alcohol, profanity, insubordination, or other misbehavior). Dress expectations are in Student Handbook and on tickets (no bare mid-riff or sides, dress clothes/shoes) Dance expectations – appropriate conduct – no inappropriate dancing. Be SAFE!

8 Prom – May 7th No school-sanctioned Senior Skip Day! Any trips are NOT school sponsored. Buses should not depart from CAHS. Please do not post flyers about events. Attendance on Friday, May 6 th, follows school policy – you must be in attendance for at least 3 hours to attend prom. We will pull reports on Friday and deny admittance if not in school. Social Probation will be in effect for physical altercations this year. Discipline reports will be pulled – still time for appeal – no later than Friday, April 29 th.

9 Prom – May 7th Guest Passes must be purchased in the MAIN OFFICE – the slip is your ticket – so you must bring it to Prom. Guest pass applications are due no later than April 29 th – BUT that is the last day for tickets – so plan ahead and get them in early. ALL students and guests must have a picture ID to enter the prom

10 Senior’s Last Day May 18, 2016

11 Seniors Last Day May 18th Final Projects and Exams May 16 th to 18 th or before Final Grades are due May 18 th Make sure you take care of obligations – your teachers are not kidding when they say you need to complete work or you won’t pass! Cap/Gown/Tassel Orders must be completed ASAP through Jostens.com – final deadline to order is next week.

12 Seniors Last Day May 18th May 18 th is not the day of celebration… those who disrupt the educational process, vandalize school property, or are generally insubordinate may lose the opportunity to walk at graduation! Water fights, egging, senior pranks, etc. will not be tolerated…disciplinary action as well as police involvement may occur.

13 Notification to Graduates Students who have earned the required 24 credits by May 18th, 2016, paid all fines, and have met general behavior expectations will have earned a diploma on June 1st.

14 Notification to Non-Graduates Students who have earned at least 23.5 required credits will be allowed to walk at Commencement with the expectation that the ½ credit will be made up in summer school. Diploma has not been earned yet. Students who do not have 23.5 credits by May 18 th, are not be allowed to walk at graduation, and will be expected to attend school through June 10 to complete their courses. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!

15 Honors Program Thursday, May 26th, 2016 Carman-Ainsworth HS Auditorium

16 May 26th, 2016 Honors Practice – 12:45 p.m. Auditorium All seniors are invited to attend! Don’t come to this if you are not participating. REQUIRED Rehearsal to participate in Honors Program Seniors receiving honors cumulative GPA 3.0-4.0 will be recognized Many other awards, recognitions and scholarships Class Picture – 1:15 p.m. Main Gym Cap and Gown Distribution – 1:45 Cafeteria All fines must be paid in full – take care of ahead of time in Media Ctr! JOSTENS – pay directly! Honors Assembly – 6:00 p.m. Seniors wear Caps & Gowns -( iron or steam wrinkles) Dress up – clothes Arrive no later than 5:30 Bring Honors Cords

17 May 26 th, 2016 All students should complete a Post-Grad Information Form (done on Senior Activity Day on April 13 th ) Submit ALL Scholarships Offers to Guidance Office Submit ALL College Applications / Acceptance Letters to Guidance Office Deadline for these is before May 18 th to be included in Honors Program

18 Commencement June 1, 2016 Dort Federal Event Center

19 June 1, 2016 Mandatory Commencement Practice – 9:30 a.m. Dort Federal Event Center - 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, MI NO EXCUSES – if you do not attend, you do not walk! Commencement – 7:00 p.m. Dort Federal Event Center - 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, MI Students report no later than 6:15 p.m. – lower level PARKING - $5 per car

20 COMMENCEMENT EXPECTATIONS Dress Expectations – Appropriate Dress Males: Dress shirts, dress slacks, dress shoes (No T-shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, or beach sandals) Females: Appropriate length dresses, skirts, or dress slacks, dress shoes (No T- shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, or beach sandals/flip flops)

21 COMMENCEMENT EXPECTATIONS This is a ceremony! Demonstrate pride and be classy! Please do not have side conversations, nor yell out names Noise makers or signs of any kind are prohibited! Nothing can be placed/painted on the caps other than the provided tassel Parents are not allowed in the staging area. Photos (one free picture, order forms available through the mail)

22 The only allowed cords, stoles are for Carman- Ainsworth events only such as NHS, Student Council, Honors Cords. No other cords, décor, stoles are allowed for Honors or Graduation. COMMENCEMENT EXPECTATIONS

23 General Expectations After May 18, seniors should NOT be in the school for any reason other than the cash payment of fines in the Media Center or credit card payment in the Main Office. Fines should be minimal for pickup day, but will be paid in the main office. Ensure that you are present at the REQUIRED rehearsals! Remember that Prom, Honors Assembly, and Commencement are privileges. Issues/misbehavior/etc. may cause you to lose the opportunity to attend these events!

24 Post-Grad Party June 1-2, 2016

25 Post Graduation Party A fantastic and safe way to spend time with your classmates after graduation. Tickets are on sale May 26 th during cap and gown pick-up for $20 and possibly at lunches. Tickets will be available the night of the Post- Grad Party from 10:00-11:30 p.m. for $25. This is a lock-in. Students will not be released until morning.
