4 What is Topic Tracker? Major support resource to assist the implementation of the new specification Create your own Tests and Worksheets with automatic mark schemes Based on our suite of GCSE Single Award Science past papers from the past 5 years Updated on a yearly basis with current past papers

5 You can: Browse our past papers by area of study and topic Click on the questions that you want to add to your own test paper/worksheet. A full mark scheme will be attached Print your new test paper/worksheet for your learners with an automatic front cover page which includes the test title, instructions, calculated time to complete test, total marks, and marking grid; and/or Save your document as a pdf, which you can email to your learners or display on your interactive whiteboard What can you do with Topic Tracker?

9 Enter the name of your test: Eg. A topic name or Year 11 Summer Exam Press ‘Create Exam’

10 Select Subject: Single Award Science *Loads Automatically

11 Select Level: GCSE Select Unit: Biology (Unit 1) Chemistry (Unit 2) Physics (Unit 3) Select Section: A or B *Loads Automatically

12 Unit 1: Biology Section A – Staying Alive Section B – Human Activity and Health Unit 2: Chemistry Section A – Chemical Patterns and Our Environment Section B – Materials and Their Management Unit 3: Physics Section A – Electricity, Waves and Communication Section B – Fossil Fuels, Road Transport and Safety, Radioactivity, and Earth in Space

13 Select desired Topic from drop-down menu Bank of questions will automatically appear The new topics or less frequently examined topics will have fewer questions Bank of questions will grow over the coming years *Loads Automatically

14 There may be a number of pages of questions Click on each page number to view the questions on the different pages

15 Click on a question to enlarge it for viewing purposes The examination paper reference for the question appears above the enlarged question

16 Click on ‘Add’ to insert the question onto your test/worksheet Click on this button to view the question that you have inserted onto your test again Click on this button to view the mark scheme for the question

17 Click on the up or down arrows to change the order of the question Click on the ‘X’ to delete the question from your test/worksheet

18 Click on this box if you would like to attach a Data Leaflet to your test/worksheet The Data Leaflet will automatically print as the last two pages of the test

19 Use questions from the one topic to create a topic worksheet Use questions from each of the topics within a ‘Section’ to create an end-of-section test Use questions from a mixture of topics, sections, or even different units to create a summative assessment When you are happy with the test you have created, click on ‘Generate Exam’

20 When you click on ‘Generate Exam’, a pop-up will appear which will enable you to: Open your test, view and print Or Save your test in pdf format

21 The test will be printed with a customised cover page which includes: Title of Exam Automatically calculated ‘Time Allowed’ Changeable date for test/exam Mark grid Automatically calculated ‘Total Marks Available’ Prompt for candidate to write their name Instructions and Information for Candidates

22 A mark scheme will be automatically generated and will print after the last page of the test N.B. The questions will be automatically numbered

23 Topic Tracker for other Sciences Topic Tracker for GCSE Chemistry has already gone live on the Chemistry Microsite. Topic Tracker for the other Science specifications will be released within the next few months in the following order: – GCSE Biology – Double Award Science – GCSE Physics
