MERIL: On-Site Accessibility Assessments Research Conducted By: Jenny Stanhope and Todd Ries

Business Problem Paul Bergonzoni uses a clipboard and note pad to do accessibility assessments. Sometimes he travels far from his office to conduct the assessment. Is there a way that we can incorporate modern tools to help him do this more efficiently, effectively, and in a way that works for him.

The Interview An Interview was conducted with Mr. Paul Bergonzoni at MERIL on November 5, 2015. During the interview, Mr. Bergonzoni communicated: – How on-site assessments were conducted – What preparation was need pre-assessment – How the data was documented and packaged after the assessment. – What in-depth knowledge or skills were needed to perform the assessment – What he hoped would be accomplished by this research This information was used to produce several task analyses to better illustrate the task requirements, procedures, materials, and decisions that are required for an on-site assessment.

Task Analysis: Pre-Assessment Preparation

Task Analysis: Overall On-Site Assessment

Task Analysis: Specific Item of On-Site Assessment

Task Analysis: Post Assessment

Task Analysis: Putting it all Together

Efficiency Measured by calculating errors – Both participants experienced one error – Both participants had similar errors regarding the process for saving the document to the dropbox

Effectiveness Measured by whether or not the participants could complete the task using the new software. – Both participants were able to complete the task

Satisfaction System Usability Scale Scale: 1=Strongly agree -5=Strongly disagree User 1 User 2 I think that I would like to use this system frequently 24 I found this system unnecessarily complex 34 I thought this system was easy to use 33 I think that I would need the support of a technical person to use this system. 43 I found that the various functions in this system were well integrated 23 I thought that there was too much inconsistency in the system 33 I imagine that most people would learn to use this system very quickly 22 I found this system very awkward to use 34 I felt very confident using this system 23 I needed to learn a lot of things before I could get going with this system 32 SUS Score 67.577.5 SUS Score > 68 means that usability is above average usability
