1. Pre-reading Journal What do you know about learning disabilities such as ADHD or dyslexia? Do you know anyone who has a learning disability? Do you think a person with a learning disability should receive more time to complete tests or homework than a person without a disability? Explain your position.

2. Chapter 1 Brainstorm as many school field trips as you can remember. What’s the best (or worst) experience you’ve ever had on a school field trip?

3. Chapter 2 Have you ever had a teacher you wanted to do well for? If so, what made you respect that teacher’s opinion? If you can’t think of a teacher like that, what would a teacher have to be like to make you respect them?

4. Chapter 3 What is the place that you feel most at ease – a place you’d like to be more than anywhere else?

5. Chapter 4 Is there anyone you’d sacrifice your life for? Explain who and why.

6. Chapter 5 If someone granted you immortality (being your present age, just as you are, forever) would you take it? Think of as many pros and cons as you can. (use a T chart to help you organize your list)!

7. Chapter 6 Have you ever been bullied or treated mean by someone older than you? In your school, do the upper grades ever pick on the lower grades? Give examples, or if you do not think this is the case, explain why.
