Without turning around, can one volunteer describe the picture?

Why were we doing this? As Geographers it is very important to be able to describe a picture and pick out the main important points. This is going to be very important when we learn to annotate.

Annotating Annotating is when you add information or labels to a picture or diagram to highlight the most important parts. It can also be used to add extra information

Why do we annotate? We annotate to highlight important features of a picture. We also annotate to add in information that may be missing so that people can understand a picture more.

Example Edinburgh Castle Volcanic rock Trees Gold coloured fountain This is a very simple example. When you are annotating you will go into a lot more detail.

Example Your turn! Annotate the pictures that you have been given. Try to go into as much detail as possible.

What should you include when annotating? Building age and style, (Old or new) Building height, Material, Building density/open space, Pedestrianisation, Amenities, (shops, post office, taxi rank) Traffic, Number of people on the street, Geographic features.
