The Pennsylvania Standards Aligned System (SAS) is a collaborative product of research and good practice that identifies six elements, which when utilized together, will provide a common frame work for continuous school improvement and enhancement and student achievement. The new website was unveiled officially at last year’s SAS Institute in December of 2009. What is SAS?

Clear Standards

The numbering is slightly different. The standards on SAS address broad learning and can be used for long term planning. The Learning Standards for Early Childhood in booklet format are much more specific and should be used for daily planning and referencing.

Scaffolding - The children are supported while learning new skills and concepts. - The teacher provides corrective feedback by repeatedly prompting the child in an effort to encourage the child to arrive at the correct answer independently, and refrains from telling the child the answer until all efforts are exhausted.
