Gains Analysis Lodi Unified School District Results Based On Program Data 08/01/2015 to 03/14/2016 iREAD, READ 180, System 44, MATH 180 Mid-Year Summary Report Academic Planning & Analysis

Executive Summary In partnership with the district, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has analyzed data from 6,242 iRead students at 30 schools 3,739 READ 180 & System 44 students at 42 schools 1,214 MATH 180 students at 7 schools Progress with iRead software. 2,474 iRead students have progressed out of their initial content level. Students averaged 74 completed sessions at 22 minutes in length and 62 Topics completed. Strong growth with excellent software use in READ 180 and System 44. There were 956 READ 180 Super Stars, with evidence of both strong participation and Lexile gains. Excellent software usage and excellent growth demonstrated through content assessment in MATH 180. 51% of students had a 100+ Quantile growth. 2 March data export indicates evidence of:

Academic Planning & Analysis Mean Lexile Gain and Goal by Site Mean Change in Lexile and Low End Growth Goal by Elementary School 6 This analysis is based on students who completed at least two Reading Inventory tests a minimum of 8 weeks apart. Review the Reading Inventory Growth Summary Report for more information. (Analysis Note: Sites with fewer than 10 students or a negative change in average Lexile are not shown above)

Academic Planning & Analysis Mean Lexile Gain and Goal by Site Mean Change in Lexile and Low End Growth Goal by Elementary School (2) 7 This analysis is based on students who completed at least two Reading Inventory tests a minimum of 8 weeks apart. Review the Reading Inventory Growth Summary Report for more information. (Analysis Note: Sites with fewer than 10 students or a negative change in average Lexile are not shown above)

Academic Planning & Analysis Mean Lexile Gain and Goal by Site Mean Change in Lexile and Low End Growth Goal by Middle School 8 This analysis is based on students who completed at least two Reading Inventory tests a minimum of 8 weeks apart. Review the Reading Inventory Growth Summary Report for more information. (Analysis Note: Sites with fewer than 10 students or a negative change in average Lexile are not shown above)

Academic Planning & Analysis Mean Lexile Gain and Goal by Site Mean Change in Lexile and Low End Growth Goal by High School 9 This analysis is based on students who completed at least two Reading Inventory tests a minimum of 8 weeks apart. Review the Reading Inventory Growth Summary Report for more information. (Analysis Note: Sites with fewer than 10 students or a negative change in average Lexile are not shown above)

Academic Planning & Analysis Summary Mid-Year Reading Inventory Growth Metrics 10 1,494 Students w/ Reading Inventory 1,838 Students w/ Reading Inventory These results are from students with 10+ software sessions and Reading Inventory tests that were at least 8 weeks apart. Numbers for System 44 on subsequent slides may vary because they are based on Phonics Inventory rather than Reading Inventory results. Total Students in Reading Inventory Sample

Academic Planning & Analysis Phonics and Reading Inventory Results Overview of Test Results for System 44 Students – Grade 3 11 This chart shows that foundational reading skills are improving; reading comprehension results often depend upon foundational reading skills. Meeting annual goals for Lexile growth goal is more likely when students reach Series 20 to 25 or when students demonstrate Advancing Decoder status on Phonics Inventory. 188 students w/ 2+ Phonics Inventory 252 students w/ 2+ Reading Inventory Analysis Note: Above data reflects ONLY those students with sufficient software usage to meet the “Gains Analysis Sample” criteria and Phonics Inventory/Reading Inventory tests at least 8 weeks apart.

Academic Planning & Analysis 12 Students with a growth mindset and broad knowledge base paired with a deep understanding of mathematics are more likely to perform well on universal screeners such as The Math Inventory. Quantile measure changes from fall to winter help determine whether students are engaged and making progress, but substantive growth measurements should be based on full-year results. Math Inventory Results for MATH 180 Course I The grid includes metrics for students aligned to MATH 180 Course I with 10+ sessions of software usage, eight or more weeks between Math Inventory tests, and do not have a change in Quantile measure less than -100Q.
