Initiative 5: Workforce development partnerships  Conduct an internal staff survey  Conduct an external stakeholder survey  Provide web-based and/or face-to-face trainings to SIL staff working on business services to the public Develop standardized library business classes Recruit highly skilled library volunteers who can offer business services at SIL community libraries Partner with local business support organizations Create a newsletter for business services Work with SIL Communications team to craft a marketing campaign to the business community. Partner with local workforce development organizations to integrate SIL services into their programs and classes.

11 Why? New positions, new expectations Customers identify selecting books to read as “very important” 81% of Reference interactions in Nov. 2014 were RA-related Our patrons want help in person and online (no surprise!)

12 Initiative 1: New Intranet Pages Develop trainings and resources for Information Services and Research level staff so that all are proficient using RA tools and having RA conversations. Initiative 2: Develop a technology-based readers’ advisory service that encourages customers to solicit recommendations. Form- and app-based advisory will be explored. New Training Opportunities

13 Initiative 3: New RA Team positions Updating the Movies & Music web pages Developing staff resources Develop a multi-media advisory practice to address customer appetite for watching and listening to media material. Initiative 4: Develop a marketing plan to reach users and non- users through all channels, physical and cyber. Develop partnerships with community outlets to recommend material.
