1 Financial Aid Overview and 2015-16 Updates Presenters: Primavera Arvizu Evette Lara Isabel Castaneda

2 We are LIVE for 2015-16 Students are now able to check the status of their Financial Aid on their insideBC account. They are able to print requested forms directly from their insideBC account OR the Financial Aid web page. E-mails have been sent to students notifying them to check their status. It is their responsibility to be sure they have submitted all required documents in a timely manner!

5 Book Advance Pell eligible students that have not been awarded Financial Aid for the start of the semester are able to request an advance of their Pell grant to assist them in purchasing their books from the campus bookstore Additional exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis based on their need/eligibility at the time of the request

6 Late start courses Students will be paid only for courses which they are attending Once a course begins, the system will recognize that the course has begun and will disburse the student at that time

7 3 Disbursements There are now 3 disbursements each semester The amounts will be split into 30%/20%/50% Dates of Disbursement Fall 2105 Spring 2016 30%: August 21st 30%: January 15 th 20%: September 18 th 20%: February 12 th 50%: November 6 th 50%: April 8 th

8 Examples of Disbursements Student is eligible for $5775 of Pell Grant for the school year, they are enrolled as a Full time student (12 or more) in the Fall 5775 / 2 = 2888 1 st disbursement at 30%: $866 2 nd disbursement at 20%: $578 3 rd disbursement at 50%: $1444

9 Examples of Disbursements Student is eligible for $5775 of Pell Grant for the school year, they are enrolled as a Half time student (6-8.5) in the Fall 5775 / 2 x.5 = 1444 1 st disbursement at 30%: $433 2 nd disbursement at 20%: $289 3 rd disbursement at 50%: $722

10 Request for Reinstatement Going into the 2015-16 school year we will only be accepting ONE request for reinstatement per school year (prior years, they were accepted each semester)

11 Program Participation Agreement Financial Aid will only be available for Certificate of Achievement programs that are on approved Program Participation Agreement (PPA) Job Skill Certificated are not approved

15 Terms of Agreement The 2015-16 Terms of Agreement are located for review on the Financial Aid Web page as well as through a student’s insideBC Financial Aid tab.

17 Gainful Employment Gainful Employment is a federal regulation to require post-secondary institutions that participate in the student financial assistance programs to disclose to prospective students certain information about the institution’s gainful employment. Gainful Employment programs include Title IV-eligible non-degree programs (certificate programs).
