Maintaining Pipeline Integrity with GIS & Smart Pig Data Analysis Taryn Moser, GIS Technician II 4/28/2016

2  One of Appalachia’s leading natural gas E&P companies  125+ years successful operations  Active in PA, WV, KY, VA, OH & TX  1,900+ employees  2015 Operating Income: $563.1M  Safety – Our first priority  Zero-injury culture  Uncompromising on safety  Everyone goes home safely  Integrated production and midstream operations  Production explores and drills natural gas wells  Midstream transports, stores, and markets gas EQT at a Glance

3  2015 Operating Income of $563.1 million Leading Appalachian E&P Company 10.0 Tcfe proved reserves 3.4 MM acres 9,100 pipeline miles As of 12/31/15

4  Safe, responsible, low-cost producer  More than 13,400 active wells  10.0 Tcfe of proved reserves across 3.4 million gross acres  Industry leading cost structure  The Marcellus Shale is a key driver of EQT’s growth strategy  Innovative drilling techniques  Multi-well drill sites = smaller environmental footprint  Horizontal wells can exceed 10,000’ = more development of previously unrecoverable reserves Production – Innovative Development As of 12/31/15

5  EQT Midstream (includes EQT Midstream Partners)  9,100 miles of pipeline  900 miles of FERC-regulated interstate pipeline  8,250 miles of gathering lines  Transmission and Storage  3.5 Bcf/d current capacity  47 Bcf gas storage capacity  Marcellus Gathering (PA and WV)  2.0 Bcf/d capacity Midstream Operations – Extensive & Growing As of 12/31/15

6  EQT Midstream Partners, LP  EQT formed the MLP in 2012  Transmission and Storage  900 miles of FERC-regulated interstate pipeline (200 miles leased from EQT)  3.1 Bcf/d current capacity  32 Bcf of gas storage capacity  Gathering  185 miles of high pressure pipeline  1,500 miles of FERC-regulated low pressure pipeline  New projects in development  EQT GP Holdings, LP  EQT formed the MLP in 2015  EQT owns 90% LP interest Midstream Operations – Extensive & Growing As of 12/31/15

7  Headquarters and field offices  Responsible for:  GPS maintenance/troubleshooting  ROW maintenance and monitoring  Data creation and analysis  GIS Technicians support:  Land  Gas Systems Planning  Compliance  Measurement  Business Development  Environmental  Tax and Accounting  EQT Energy GIS Department

8  DOT regulations require Smart Pigging every 7 years  Every pipeline regulated by the DOT must be piggable  EQT has been installing pig launchers and receivers on older pipelines for years  EQT designs all new pipe to have a launcher at one end and a receiver at the other  New pipelines are also designed with piggable turns of 45 degrees or less (smart pigs can’t make sharp curves) Pipeline Safety Inspections

9  Smart Pigs look for threats to pipeline integrity  Gouging, Denting, Cracking, and Corrosion  Sensors identify the location of changes in pipe thickness  All data is stored on the smart pig for future retrieval Pipeline Inspection Gauges (PIGs)

10  Collected data is converted to a point shapefile  The data and above ground markers (AGM) identify actual pig location  The pigged pipeline data is exported for analysis GIS Data Analysis Process

11  EQT’s GIS Department uses the ArcGIS application to:  Generate a grid  Create a detailed map  Visualize the distance from the pig data to the line position  Map the data analysis GIS Data Analysis Process - continued

12 GIS Data Analysis Process - continued

13  We know where the pipeline is, but what is the actual depth of the bore? How EQT uses GIS Data Analysis - Examples

14  Why did the pig, or its data, go that way? How EQT uses GIS Data Analysis - Examples

15 Questions?
