RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Enclosure keys issued daily through the Main Control Room (MCR).  Booster Will be re-cored to a shutdown access key series. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Enclosure access keys will be issued in the MCR. Approved requests for 22 Long Term Issue Shutdown Access Keys out of 50 available.  Main Injector Will be re-cored to a shutdown access key series. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Enclosure access keys will be issued in the MCR. Approved requests for 34 Long Term Issue Shutdown Access Keys out of 100 available. LOTO to be done in the MCR. Enclosure fire alarm testing 4:30 to 8:00 a.m. on Monday July 19 th.

All Tevatron sectors and Enclosure B will be on the same shutdown access keys. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Enclosure access keys will be issued in the MCR. Approved requests for 45 Long Term Issue Shutdown Access Keys out of 60 available. Substation LOTO to be done in the MCR.  Tevatron LOTO boxes will be reconfigured.  One LOTO lock will lockout all three sectors. Fire alarm testing during the day on Monday and Tuesday at service building entrances.  Alarms will sound for a few seconds at each building, one building at a time.

Enclosure keys issued daily through the MCR or AP-10. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th and at AP-10. P-Bar Rings LOTO to be done at AP-10. Pre-Target, Pre-Vault, and Transport enclosures will remain on the enclosure interlock keys. Pre-Target, Pre-Vault, and Transport enclosures remain in Controlled Access for the first few days of the shutdown. Enclosure keys issued daily through the MCR. Pre-Target, Pre-Vault, and Transport enclosure LOTO to be done in the MCR.  NuMI Was re-cored to a shutdown access key series July 12 th. LOTO to be done in the MCR. Underground access at MI-65 or MINOS requires badging in and out.

RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. LOTO to be done in the MCR.  Switchyard Enclosure B Will be re-cored to the Tevatron shutdown access key series. Approved Long Term Issue Shutdown Access Keys as part of the Tevatron list Enclosure keys issued through the MCR. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Must LOTO any tunnel elements being worked on.  Switchyard Enclosures C, D, E, & J, G2 & F-Line Manholes, and Meson Primary Remains on enclosure interlock key series. Enclosure keys issued daily through the Main Control Room. RWP’s in the Huddle from 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday July 19 th. Must LOTO any tunnel elements being worked on. F-Line Manholes and Meson Primary to remain in controlled access for the first few days of the shutdown?

5 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 5 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Keys  An enclosure access key is to be in your possession whenever you are in an enclosure.  All key transfers between individuals must be through the Main Control Room key logger.  Long term issue keys may be retained for the duration of the shutdown.  Enclosure access keys should remain on site in a secured area when not in use.  Daily issued keys from the MCR are to be returned daily. Bob Mau knows how to contact violators of this policy at around 2:00 a.m.  If you lose a key contact the MCR immediately. This gives us the best chance to retrace where the key may have been lost.

6 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 6 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Enclosure Access  RWP’s will be issued for the duration of the shutdown and do not need to be signed every 30 days.  Exterior enclosure doors are not to be propped open.  Emergency lights are for exiting an enclosure during a power outage. Master Substation power outage Tuesday 7-7:30 a.m. effects: Wilson Hall, AD Footprint, Linac, Booster, P-Bar, Switchyard, Tevatron, MINOS Plan to begin enclosure work after the power outage is over.

7 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 7 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Radiation Safety  Reminder - Summer Students under 18 years of age can not work in radiological areas, or with, or near radioactive materials.  Any job expecting more than 100 person mrem requires a written ALARA Plan.  Current ALARA estimates project ~4 person rem of exposure to workers.  It is imperative to follow the ALARA Plans and RWP’s to minimize exposure.  Time, Distance, and Shielding can help to minimize your exposure.

8 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 8 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Radiation Safety  Task Managers and Crew Leaders are required to submit weekly dosimeter reports to the ESH Department each Monday for the previous week. AD personnel should use the electronic recording system. Contractors and other laboratory personnel will need to use the pocket dosimeter cards. Pocket dosimeter cards are available from ESH, the MCR, or in the Huddle on Monday morning.  Ensure crews frisk and survey materials when leaving the enclosures.  Do not send any enclosure materials to machine shops for modifications without checking for radioactivity.  Any item Class 2 or higher requires coordination with AD Radiation Safety for disposition.

9 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 9 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Electrical Safety  LOTO LOTO locks and tags are available from the stock room, by the MCR, and from ESH. LOTO lock stock number 1268-500500 (Currently out of stock?) DANGER DO NOT OPERATE tags stock number 2650-400300 package of 5 or stock number 2650-400400 each All locks must have a DANGER DO NOT OPERATE tag affixed to the lock. All LOTO tags need a legible Name, ID, and Phone Number of the individual applying the lock.  Task Managers and Crew Leaders Responsible for ensuring that all personnel in your work crews perform LOTO. Need to have contact information for every individual in your crew. Particularly important for contractors. Job lock boxes are available from the AD ESH Department.

10 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 10 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Personal Protective Equipment  Wide assortment of PPE available from the stock room and ESH Department.  Hand Protection Leather or cut resistant gloves for handling sharp objects, preventing scrapes, pinches. Chemical resistant gloves available through the ESH Department.  Ear Plugs or muffs for high noise areas.  Eye Safety glasses, safety goggles, brazing glasses, face shields.  Head Hard hats and bump caps.  Foot Use appropriate footwear in the enclosures. Sandals, flip flops, high heels, … are not appropriate in work areas. Shoemobile is on site Tuesday’s for steel toed footwear.

11 Friday July 16, 2010 John Anderson jea@fnal.gov Page 11 Shutdown 2010 ES&H Executing a successful shutdown means getting our work done safely. Historically, the first two weeks of the shutdown are when many injuries occur. Most of the injuries occur to personnel on loan to AD for the shutdown that are unfamiliar with the work in accelerator areas. People on loan, contractors, and summer students are eager to work. Ensure adequate supervision is maintained over their assigned tasks.
