3 Year 6 Second week in May (11 th May 2015) SATs police Set timetable Tests sent away for marking Results received in July

4 Maths Level 3 -5 2 maths papers: Both non-calculator 45 minutes each Mental maths test (timed questions)

5 Literacy Level 3 - 5 1 Reading Comprehension paper (1 hour) 15 minutes to read the booklet, 45 minutes to answer questions 1 grammar, punctuation and spelling test Part 1: grammar, punctuation and vocabulary – 45 minutes Part 2: spelling – approximately 15 minutes Writing levels are now being teacher assessed but will be externally moderated

6 Level 6 Nationally, 0% of children entered for the Reading Comprehension achieved Level 6 in 2014 Nationally, 4% of children entered for the EGPS (English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) achieved level 6 in 2014 In Maths, Level 6 work equates to foundation level GCSE Nationally, 9% of children entered for the Maths achieved level 6 in 2014. Very few children are entered and must gain Level 5 in order to achieve Level 6

7 How to help your child 15 minutes of reading per day to help build stamina Constant practising of tables Real life problems: handling money, time, timetables, weights and measures Reinforcing spelling rules sent home Start now! Little and often – no last minute panic! No wild parties the weekend before and plenty of rest and early nights during SATs week!☺

8 Goodbye SATs Last year of SATs as we know it Some changes have already been implemented Tests are likely to be harder in the future in line with the new National Curriculum

9 Science No test Some schools are randomly chosen for sampling
