26 BUSINESS WITH CONFIDENCE icaew.com © ICAEW 2013 Meet Alex Lowden, Assurance/Audit Higher Apprentice at BDO Alex joined BDO last October on their Assurance/Audit Higher Apprenticeship programme. Before applying for a higher apprenticeship, Alex studied A- Levels in Business Studies, Spanish and Geography, with an AS Level in Economics. During his summer holidays, Alex applied to do some work experience at the company so that he could gain some insight into what life in assurance/audit was actually like! TOP TIP: Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and speak to employers about their opportunities. It shows real interest and initiative. Application process.
