measurement of protection Explosion protection is categorized in Groups, Temperature Classes and Zones as follows: Groups Group IMining Group II All other places with explosion endangered atmosphere. Divided in sub groups II A, II B and II C

The substances are divided in the sub groups IIA, IIB and IIC according to the ignition capability. The danger of the substance is increasing from IIA to IIC. Devices that are certified for IIC are useable in all other sub groups. MIAG – Devices are certified for IIB (including IIA). In special cases IIB + H 2 and IIB + C 2 H 2 is available. measurement of protection

differences Differences between an explosion protected fork lift truck and a „normal“ fork lift truck Despite the complicated steps taken to make our industrial trucks explosion protected, we can offer our customers equipment with performance figures comparable to the best non- explosion protected industrial trucks. A list of the non-electrical and elctrical equipment and components installed in our explosion protected industrial trucks and their special design demonstrates the extent of precautions necessary to ensure allround explosion protection. The following summary shows the most important features:

ForksCoated with non sparking material e.g. brass or stainless steel (according to EN 1755). BrakeBrakes with flameproof enclosure, bonded brake liming, non metallic, disc brakes running in an oil bath. Electromagnetic brakes flanged at the electric motor. Motors, gearsSpecial preparation of sealing surfaces in order to prevent spark penetration. Tyres and bandagesElectrically conductive. differences

Driving beltelectrically conductive Diesel engineDiesel engine (3-cylinder) 45 kW throttled to 36 kW Diesel engine (4-cylinder) 60 kW throttled to 46 kW Revolution reduced to 2200 r.p.m. Control andautomatic control of explosion stopping devicesafety - Exhaust-gas temp. max. 110°C - Cooling water temp. max. 86°C - Motor oil pressure min. 0,7 bar - Hydraulic oil temp. max. 80°C - Revolution reduced to max. 2200min-1 differences

Electric motorflame proof enclosure and own safety motors from 2,4 kW up to 8,0 kW Switchgearsflameproof enclosure Starter with starterThe electrical, explosion protected switch and regulatorstarting system ensures start-up within hazardous areas. In comparison with hydraulic starters, the electric starter - especially designed for explosion protection - allows problem-free repeated starting. GeneratorFlameproof enclosure differences

LightingExplosion protection automobil conform lighting system, headlamps, rear lamps, flash light, light indicator and reverse lights. Installationcables in special design, especially laying for protection against mechanically damage. Starter battery Explosion protected tray with (diesel) explosion protected special cable connectors Traction battery Explosion protected tray with (electric) explosion protected plug connection cables, special cell connectors. differences

Air-intake system The systems are equipped with and Exhaust systema flame trap and a spark arrestor Control of explosion safety On diesel fork lift trucks:  Automatic control by checking the engine speed, engine oil pressure, hydraulic oil pressure, water temperature and exhaust-gas temperature.  Automatic stop of the engine, if the admissible limiting values are exceeded or too low.  The applied hand brake with automatic stop obviates all travelling functions, thus, avoiding and inadmissible heating of the brakes. differences

On electric fork lift trucks:  The motor stops automatically when the admissible limiting temperatures of the motor windings are exceeded.  Automatic control by checking the hydraulic-oil temperature.  The applied hand brake with automatic stop obviates all travelling functions, thus, avoiding an inadmissible heating of the brakes. differences

Quality and service life of explosion protected MIAG industrial trucks Assembly All structural components are subject to a quality inspection in order to guarantee a constantly high quality standard. Each item of explosion protected equipment is subject to a prescribed detailed inspection Explosion protection A detailed inspection of the fully assembled industrial truck ensures a high level of safety. Service lifeLong service life due to high quality of all structural components and low throttling of motor power. differences
