Applied effectively, technology implementation not only increases student learning, understanding, and achievement but also augments MOTIVATION to learn, encourages collaborative learning, and supports the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills (Schacter & Fagnano, 1999)

4 Further Research Technology allows teachers to differentiate instruction more efficiently by providing a wider variety of avenues for learning that reach students of divergent readiness levels, interests, and learning styles (Mize & Gibbons, 2000; Waxman, Connell, & Gray, 2002).

Word Processing Applications – Creating Graphic Organizers to compare & classify terms, publisher to use photos/words to show analogies. -Create hyperlinks to perform research. Spreadsheet Software – Use Excel to create classification tables, or to enter data and create charts/graphs to show and compare data, practice graphing, etc. Data Collection Tools – Use Google Docs or Survey Monkey/Zoomerang to collect data from observations, interviews, etc. This allows students to gather data in one central location.

20 Multimedia – Use Mimio/ActivInspire/SMART Notebook to play games to compare, classify or organize data. -Gaming sites can enhance knowledge of previously learned skills (BrainPop, BBC Skillwise, National Library of Virtual Manipulatives, etc.) --Use Powerpoint to create games/practice on previously learned topics. Communication Software – use Chat rooms, discussion/message boards (Gaggle) for HW Help/test review.
