5 What is happening in the US? By law, all high-power TV stations are required to upgrade their broadcast to digital by June, 2009. Was February 17, 2009.

6 This means they will stop sending analog television signals and start exclusively sending digital television (DTV) signals. What is happening in the US?

7 Why is it happening? DTV technology has many advantages over analog technology.

8 What are the Benefits? 11 Getting Ready for Digital TV Choose how to get a digital TV signal. Either… Buy a new Digital TV (DTV) OR Install a converter box

14 Step 1: Unpack the box You should find: You may also find: the converter box a coaxial cable a remote control w/batteries power supply the instruction manual audio/video cables; and cable adaptors Owner’s Manual

15 A)Disconnect your existing antenna by removing the coaxial cable from the “antenna in” jack on the back of your TV. B) Switch the converter box to channel 3. C) Connect that antenna cable to the “antenna in” jack on the back of the converter box. Step 2: Connect the converter C

16 D 1 ) Use the supplied coaxial cable to connect the “antenna out” jack on the converter to the “antenna in” jack on the TV. OR D 2 ) Use an RCA audio/video cable to connect the A/V OUT jack on the converter to the “VIDEO IN” jack on the TV. E) Plug in the converter box power cable F) Install the batteries in the remote control. D1D1 D2D2  OR 

17 Step 3: Scan for Channels G) Turn on the TV and tune it to channel 3 (coax cable) or VIDEO IN (RCA cable) H) Turn on the converter box. I) Follow the directions to scan for channels. Verify that you are receiving channel 44.3 J) Scan periodically to ensure you’re getting all available DTV stations.

18 Converter Box Troubleshooting Consult your converter box manual for help specific to your converter box model. You may need to adjust the direction of your antenna to maximize channel reception. It’s possible to use DVD players and VCRs with a converter box. Consult the converter box manual for specific instructions.

E2) If GNTV is not received, you might need to purchase a more powerful antenna. A) Connect the antenna to the converter box. C) Scan for digital channels. A B

23 A) Inside Antenna: Step 4: Mount the antenna Set it up in a location where you get the best reception. Preferrably near the TV. It may need to be near a window or toward the south part of the home. The stronger the antenna the easier to find a location You’re done. HDTVA ANT301

24 B) Outside Antenna: Step 4: Mount the antenna NOTE: If you couldn’t get the inside antenna to work, you may need an outside one. Find a location where you get the best reception. 25 B) Outside Antenna: Step 4: Mount the antenna Find a location where you get the best reception. Preferrably toward the South side of your home. Could be: attic, side of house, block wall, against chimney Confirm HOA policies if above fence. Install mast for antenna. Install antenna to mast Install coaxial cable Adjust direction of antenna Fine tune for best reception YOU ARE DONE!
