7 Federal Administration (direct appropriation) -Provides a portion of the general operating funds for the Federal staff, and national program planning, coordination, and program leadership for the extension work in partnership with the States and territories. Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program is administered under the federal administration line. AITC advances agricultural literacy through a grassroots network of State coordinators, school teachers, agribusiness leaders, and other educators by supporting initiatives that include expanding outreach to underrepresented populations; regional demonstration projects; integration of information technology to reduce program delivery costs; and outstanding teacher recognition initiatives. 14 FAQs for SPECA/AITC Letters of Support –A letter of support from the relevant state AITC organization endorsing the project is needed for AITC SPECA projects –AITC state contacts can provide more than one letter of support –AITC programs can be part of more than one funded SPECA project if they have a minor role; (If funded, total time on each grant will need to be less than 100%) Matching Requirement –100% Matching requirement unless the applicant institution is an exempt institution (pages 12-14 of the RFA)
