WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES FEDERATION An international celebration of organ donation www.wtgf.org

OUR MISSION “To bridge the gap between the need for an organ transplant and the hundreds of thousands of people who die around the world each year, because no transplant is available to them.” A minimum 30% increase in organ donation has been reported by each country that has played host to the World Transplant Games

WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE Raise public awareness across the globe of the life- saving benefits of organ donation and transplantation Increase the number of organ donors internationally Promote the full rehabilitation and wellbeing of participants through exercise. Encourage and support medical research into the benefits of sport after transplantation

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FEDERATION Run by an elected body – the Council - comprising the President, General Secretary and Treasurer and a maximum of ten Councillors from all over the world Membership is by Country Association – each member country appoints a Country Representative and a Team Manager All councillors, country representatives and team managers act on an entirely voluntary basis – without their time and expertise the Federation would not exist as it does today…

THE COMPETITORS OF THE GAMES Every competitor is alive and well as a result of a successful organ transplant Without that transplant, the competitor would be dead or, as in the case of a kidney recipient, surviving as a result of intensive renal support in some form of dialysis Every competitor is on drugs necessary for their health after a transplant – this is compulsory Every competitor is unique!
