3 History of Ralph Lauren Fashion Designer Ralph Lauren was born in New York in 1939. Employed as a necktie manufacturer during the day and went to night school to study art. Founded Polo Fashion in 1968 with his brother. 3

4 History of Ralph Lauren Lauren went to an array of stores to carry his wide neck ties. Bloomingdale’s department store demanded that he take his name off the ties and make narrower ties. Ralph refused to take his name off his labels and did not sell his products under those conditions. Lauren became successful and Bloomington agreed to his terms and his brand. 4

10 Polo Ralph Lauren 3 Year Balance Sheet Remarks: Of the three years on the balance sheets, Polo Ralph Lauren appears to be at its best in Fiscal Year 2011. Nevertheless, we do notice some issues when looking at the increases in Liabilities. Other current liabilities as well as Accounts Payable indicated major increases on the balance sheet. This presents problems since one of the goals for Fiscal Year 2011 was to condense Accounts Payable and long term debts. 10
