Keller ISD On Sungard eSchool and eFinance 36,000 students walk through our doors 39 campuses Staff of 2 dedicated to PEIMS (myself and PEIMS Analyst) Participated as early adopters of the TSDS Dashboard A little bit about us….

All collections will be open year round Will still get numerous report options Data will be submitted in XML format Switch from the Legacy Data Standards to the TEDS Early Adopters and Stage I participants will submit the 4 th submission for 14-15 through Edit+ and TSDS with TSDS being the ‘official’ submission More info at: http://www.texasstudentdatasystem.org/TSDS/EducationDataWarehouse/PEIMSDataMart / Overview of TSDS - PEIMS

Be sure your software vendor is ready and that you have all the needed software updates Familiarize yourself with TEDS How are you going to get training – from you vendor and ESC How are you going to train those in your district Is your vendor or ESC going to charge a fee for the training? Apply for the needed access – check with your regional service center PEIMS Data Sched/Promoter PEIMS Campus Submitter PEIMS Data Submitter (LEA) PEIMS Data Completer PEIMS Campus Approver PEIMS Data Approver (Superintendent) What you can do to be getting ready… TEA is pushing for Stage 1 districts to get approved to start dashboards early. This would help districts get their data clean and be a good way to test their software before their PEIMS is submitted.

Once the ‘live’ environment is up, you can submit data for any submission at any time during the year – as many times as needed You can upload all interchange files at once or 1 at a time 7 files for fall 3 files for mid-year 10 files for summer 7 for extended year You can upload the data and get updated reports throughout the year The fatals, special warnings, and warnings are the same and the TEDS cross-references the Legacy data standards Pluses…..

Changes to student demographic data since the finalization of the fall and summer PEIMS submission You have to manually upload the files - at this time TEA does not intend to provide an automated method TEA is not totally ready Software is not totally ready Student software did not have the correct file formation Business software had one line off in the file so the file would not pass validation You get an error report on what is wrong with the data but there is not a clear report of what the error means TIMS tickets have to be submitted if you need assistance resolving errors Things we have encountered so far…

You have to go through multiple steps to get the file up to the level where you can see your fatals, special warning, and warnings TSDS PEIMS Data Upload Upload the interchange files in a specific order the first time to the File Manager– have to be error free Once all interchange files have uploaded without ‘failing’ then you can progress to the Batch Manager You have to be sure you do not exit TSDS while the batch process is running Once the batch has completed you may get another set of errors that need to be corrected or you can go ahead and load the data as long as none of the files in the batch fails Once you “Promote Loaded Data” you will then get to the level where you can see your fatals, special warnings, and warnings Things we have encountered so far…
