2 Milan Kundera 83 years old writter, translator and playwright - novels, essays, plays, stories, poetry writes in Czech and French, too His books were prohibited when there were Communists. Noble works: The Joke (Žert) (1967) Laughable Loves (Směšné lásky) (1969) The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Nesnesitelná lehkost bytí) (1984)

3 Life in the Czech republic He was born on 1st April 1929 in Brno (second largest city) and grew up there. He studied aesthetics and criticism in the most famous Czech college Charles University (Karlova universita) but early he transferred to another university. There he studied film directing and screenwriting. When he ended the school he started teaching at college. He was criticizing cultural policy of the past government in Czechoslovakia. Finally he emigrated to France in 1975 and taught in Paris.
