3  Uncomfortable when not center of attention  Always seeking approval  Emotions are fleeting  Create small crisis  Usually wear provocative clothing  Considers relationships for intense than they really are  Exaggerated emotions; Very theatrical  Speech lacks detail  Wears makeup to attract attention

4  A pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:  is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention  interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior  displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions  consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self

5  has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail  shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion  is suggestible, i.e., easily influenced by others or circumstances  considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are.

6  Theatrical histrionic - especially dramatic, romantic and attention seeking.  Infantile histrionic - including borderline features.  Vivacious histrionic - synthesizes the seductiveness of the histrionic with the energy level typical of hypomania.  Appeasing histrionic - including dependent and compulsive features.  Tempestuous histrionic - including negativistic (passive- aggressive) features.  Disingenuous histrionic - antisocial features.

7  Environmental  Aversive childhood  Lack of attention from parents

8  Psychodynamic Therapy- targets patients unconscious conflicts  Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy- targets patients impulse control and problem solving skills  Medications  Not really necessary, only in severe cases  Or when patient has other disorders

9  Long-Lasting  Takes 1-3yrs for treatment in psychotherapeutic to be effective  As patients get older symptoms decrease because they have less energy

10  2-3% of general population  Diagnosed more in females  Appears more in men and women with above average physical appearance
