2 New/recast Directives New important Directives been published by the EC and need to be addressed by the European Standardization Organizations (ESOs) EMC Directive 2014/30/EU replacing Directive 2004/108/EC, to be applied as of 2016-04-20 LVD Directive 2014/35/EU replacing Directive 2006/95/EC, to be applied as of 2016-04-20, including activation of LVD mandate M/511 RE Directive 2014/53/EU replacing Directive 1999/5/EC (R&TTED), to be applied as of 2016- 06-13 © CEN-CENELEC 2013 2 Jens Erdmann CENELEC Report to the 20th EMC WP and TCAM EG 4, 2014-07-10/11

3 Follow-up of open CENELEC action, TCAM EG 2, 2.7 CLC/TC 65X ‘Industrial-process measurement, control and automation’ (topic: Industrial Wireless Automation (IWA)) Up to version 1.7.1 of EN 300 328 which contains no Media Access Mechanisms (MAMs) there has been no problem for the Automation Industry using wireless technologies Version 1.7.1 will cease to give presumption of conformity on 2014-12-31 The MAMs from versions 1.8.1 and 1.9.1 are specified from an office and consumer perspective and do not address Automation Industry requirements and needs Jens Erdmann CENELEC Report to the 20th EMC WP and TCAM EG 4, 2014-07-10/11

4 Follow-up of open CENELEC action, TCAM EG 2, 2.7 CLC/TC 65X ‘Industrial-process measurement, control and automation’ (topic: Industrial Wireless Automation (IWA)) Automation Industry currently achieves the best possible spectrum optimization, done by design, and it would be sub- optimal and impaired by unneeded extra logistic traffic and unnecessarily dense networks An extension of transition period until end of 2016 is needed by the Automation Industry, both, manufacturers and industrial users As agreed by the Joint Presidents’ Group in November 2013, a new version of the ETSI Standard EN 300 328, version 1.9.1, will proceed and take account of the requirements of the wireless automation industry Jens Erdmann CENELEC Report to the 20th EMC WP and TCAM EG 4, 2014-07-10/11

5 Follow-up of open CENELEC action, TCAM EG 2, 2.7 CLC/TC 65X ‘Industrial-process measurement, control and automation’ (topic: Industrial Wireless Automation (IWA)) The proposal of 10 mW radio-islands without LBT shall be included into the considerations for Version 1.10.1 CENELEC ETSI cooperation under Mode 4 collaboration has been instituted between CENELEC TC/65X and ETSI TC/ERM as agreed by the Joint Presidents Group in November 2013 The extension of the transition period will cover the gap until version 1.10.1 will be ready, avoiding European competitiveness disadvantages and trade limitations in the interim period Jens Erdmann CENELEC Report to the 20th EMC WP and TCAM EG 4, 2014-07-10/11
