Feeling Angry

Introduction I chose this book because it provides examples that will help students identify and recognize their emotion of anger. It also provides examples of managing their anger. The book provides great visuals to help students recognize anger. The social skill that I will teach with this book is identifying and controlling the emotion of anger. Students will discover and share their own anger management strategies (ways to control anger).

Planning the Lesson Age of children: This lesson is designed for students in kindergarten grade level but could also be modified for 1 st grade students by including more steps, teaching more vocabulary. 4 Before Reading I will read the title to students, show them the cover, and ask them: What does it mean to be angry? What might you feel when you are angry? What may make you become angry?

During Reading What are the children feeling, how can we tell? What made the children feel angry? What did they do when they felt angry?

After Reading What do you look like when you feel angry? What might you be able to do to control your anger? Poster Board Activity students will discover their own way to control their anger and write it up on the poster board, which will create a list of anger management strategies.
