What is Global Warming? an increase in the Earth’s atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate that may result from the green house effect greenhouse effect traps heat in the earth believed to be result of human activity and burning of fossil fuels

Results of Global Warming: melting of polar ice caps spread of diseases more natural disasters

Polar Ice Caps important part of ecosystem help reflect heat melting at alarming rate flooding oceans; causing sea level to rise won’t be any left in 30 years loss of biodiversity

Diseases causes mosquito-born diseases malaria, dengue and yellow fever risks the life of humans will increase if global warming is not controlled

Natural Disasters cause storms due to drastic heat changes causes rain patterns to change heat changes create hurricanes

17,000 scientists sign petition stating global warming is “fake and a waste of time” Doran 2009 – Survey asking if “human activity is a contributing factor in the changing of global temperatures” – 97% of climatologists answered yes Anderegg 2010 – consensus of climate experts showing percentage who reject or agree with idea of global warming – 97%-98% agreed most climatologists experienced in the matter would agree global warming is real Global Warming A Hoax???

Evidence of Global Warming record of earth’s past climate temperatures → ●climate has always increased and decreased, but is increasing at much faster right now after the ice age, Earth’s temp. increased 4-7˚C(40- 44˚F) in about 5,000 years in past century has increased 0.7˚C(33˚F), ten times faster than the ice age rate of change for next century is 20 times faster blue shows rate of change in this decade ↓

Importance of global warming earth gets too hot all plants will die animals will become extinct oceans will flood from the melting of ice in the north and south poles our ability to live will change

Solutions ride bikes instead of cars recycle use alternative energy(wind turbines) restore forests reduce amount of fossil fuels
