2. Alexander Popov Alexander Popov was born on the 16 th November 1971 and the sport he does is Aquatics-Swimming. He is a Gold medallist in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle events in 1992 and 1996. He was named Russian Athlete of the year in 1996. He got a silver medal in the 100 meters freestyle in 2000 and participated in the 2004 Olympics for the last time in his swimming career. He is the holder of the current Olympic 50 meter freestyle event, his time was 21. 91 seconds.

3. Anna Kournikova Anna Kournikova was born on the 7 th June 1981. The sport that she plays is Tennis and she got her first Tennis racquet when she was only five. Her mum and dad sold their TV so they could get it for her Christmas present! She went to a club near her house until she was eleven. When she was fourteen she represented Russia in a fed cup match and became the youngest player ever to win a fed cup match.

4. Evgeny Plushenko Evgeny Plushenko was born in 1982 and he stated skating when he was four. It was very hard for him as he was the youngest in the skating group, he used to cry and hit the ice hard but he kept on going. He trained everyday with his coach. He was a good student and learned quickly. In the 1997-1998 season in the Cup of Russia he came second, in the Russian Nationals he came third, he came second in the European Championships and in the word championships he came third. In the season 1999-2000 he said goodbye to second for almost all competitions. At nine competitions he came first seven times, he came second once and he came fourth once.
