2 Proper Hand Position  1.) Place heel of 1 hand on victim’s sternum at the center of chest  2.) Place other hand on top of first hand  3.) Use heel of hand to apply pressure to sternum. Try to keep fingers off of the chest

3 When to stop CPR  The scene becomes unsafe  The victim shows signs of life  An AED becomes available and is ready to use  Another trained rescuer arrives and takes over  You are too exhausted to continue

4 Unconscious Choking—Adult  The most common cause of obstruction in an unconscious person is the tongue.  The care for an unconscious choking adult is very similar to the skill of adult CPR.

5 Unconscious Choking- Adult  Chest compressions are used to help force air from the victim’s lungs to dislodge a foreign object.

6 Steps of CPR  Check the scene and victim (Are you ok?)  Call 911  Lift Chin and listen for 10 seconds  30 compressions  2 Breaths  Repeat for 2 minutes, then check for breathing again.
