12 n More than 37% (27% - 42%) secondary students say that it is easy to procure alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana when they want it. This is down from 39% in 2004. n Majority of parents strongly disapprove of their children using drugs –83% Marijuana –75% Tobacco –64% Alcohol

13 WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH OUR KIDS? Results of the 2006 District-wide Drug Use Survey n Although alcohol use among 7th - 12th grade students is down to 42% (42% in 2002, 43% in 2004), it is still high. n 40% of seniors reported that alcohol was always served at parties they attended. (Up from 38% in 2004) n Approx. 8% (same in 2004) seniors reported attending school while drunk. n 82% seniors report they would go to a friend for help if they had a drug problem

14 WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH OUR KIDS? Results of the 2006 District-wide Drug Use Survey  A similar percentage of 7 th – 12 th grade girls (43.3%) reported using alcohol during the school year compared to 41.1% of boys.  A greater percentage of 7 th – 12 th grade boys reported using all other drugs compared to girls.
