3 What the project is about It is important to make sure that you are very clear about the is involved in your project before you start any further efforts on the project What is required through the completion of the project?

4 What it will deliver What data will the system need to capture? What sort of displays and reports will it have? What processing will there be? What hardware is needed? What standard of software is needed?

5 The benefits it will bring and any potential risks The benefits of a new system could include one or more of the following: Better customer service Lower costs Greater staff productivity Better management decision-making Compliance with legislation Better safety and security How is the MLE going to benefit different departments at school?

6 Functional requirements The solution may be constrained by some specific requirements including: Linking with other systems Ease of use User level skills Response time or performance Volume of use Technical needs, such as which type of hardware/software Compliance with predetermined standards The system’s users may be in many different places/world

7 Who will use the product or service? There should be a study to see who may use the product or service. The following people could potentially be included: The organisation’s customers The organisation’s staff, as a small or large part of their job The management team

8 How long will it take? Projects often take at least the whole amount of time that they have been allocated and can take much longer This must be taken into account when deciding how much time you will need to complete your project.

9 Skills required for Project Management In order to be successful in your project you will need to develop the following skills: Communication Explaining ideas to people involved in project Compromising with certain details Confident and determined to fight your case Organisational skills to make sure you deliver on time
