Conflict Revision

WAR GAMES On the next slide are five characters from the Conflict unit. You need to match them with the right information about them. You have three options: 1) Go it alone… 3pts per correct answer 2) Play in a pair… 2pts per correct answer 3) Trio team up… 1pt per correct answer (If you “Go it alone” and get 3/5 right then a pair needs 5/5 to beat you!)

Believed that a part of God is in everyone and that all violence offended God Believed that the only way to stop the horrendous evil of the Nazis was to use violence Believed that hate and war only create more hate and war. Believed that war was acceptable but only in the right circumstances Believed that God would bless anyone that was a peace-maker His family forgave his killers because Jesus had died to forgive them and so they should do the same to others Dietrich Bonhoeffer The Quakers St Thomas Aquinas Anthony Walker Martin Luther King Jr Jesus

Become the Director! In groups you need to write a scene or create a role play for a scene from a film or soap where at least 3 of the key characters from this unit meet. You need to think about: 1)The location – why are these people all together? What is the scene or context, i.e. are they meeting together as a council to decide on a war scenario, are they meeting at the site of the Hiroshima bombing? 2)The events and dialogue – what happens and what do they say? 3)Extras?? – you can choose to bring in any other person or character that you think best fits in your scene You need to include as many key words as you can like… pacifism, just war, terrorism, harm, deterrence, love, revenge, forgiveness

Reflection “A world without war would be…” Finish this sentence with an argument to show your opinion. Consider… Degrees of opinion – entirely good, partially good, better than now, terrible etc Better without nuclear weapons but not all weapons? You must use as many keywords as fits well with your argument (see your overview sheets)
