Predict Think about what you know already and try to figure out what will happen. The author wants me to think that…. I think the character will… I bet ______ will happen next.

Clarify Stop and review what you have read. Then watch for information and details to clear up questions you had earlier. At first it seemed that… Now I see that… I thought this was going to be about…
