2. Bearcat Bold 8 What is the Bearcat Bold 8? – A series of activities that students must fulfill in order to fully participate in the graduation ceremony. All seniors must take the SAT/ACT Apply to a postsecondary institution Have an acceptable GPA Have acceptable attendance (miss 10 days or less) Have acceptable behavior Perform 25 hours of community service Participate in the Bearcat Bold Mentoring Program If not proficient on PSSA, retake PSSA

3. Bearcat Bold 8 Purpose – Our Mission Statement says that we will educate the whole child. This requires that we prepare students with options. The goal of the Bearcat Bold 8 is to encourage students to seek education beyond high school, develop a culture of service, and accountability. – This program will increase our graduation rate and the number of students prepared to enroll in postsecondary education. – Many of the requirements in the Bearcat Bold 8 meet the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards (22 Pa. Code Chapter 4 - Career Education and Work Academic Standards)

4. Bearcat Bold 8 Implementation – Students, parents/guardians and mentors will participate in our Bearcat Bold Commitment Ceremony on October 13, 2012. – A Community Service Fair will be held at William Penn Senior High School on October 25, 2011, to connect students with volunteer opportunities in the community. – The Bearcat Bold Mentoring Program connects every student with an adult mentor who will help to guide them through their academic experience at William Penn.
