1 How to Listen Study Skills 2 nd period Mrs. Sheppard

2 “In one ear, and out the other” The expression above is used to describe what happens to information when someone hears it, but is not really listening. That is because hearing and listening are different.

3 What’s the difference? Hearing  In hearing, sound goes into the ears, but the brain is not paying attention. Listening  In listening, the information is received by the ears and the brain. The listener has a good chance of remembering the information.
